To guide those aging out of foster care and other vulnerable youth for successful transition to independence through housing, education, employment, and system of care coordination. Our vision is that no youth travels the road to adulthood alone.

FLITE Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering youth transitioning out of foster care and other vulnerable populations by providing comprehensive support services, resources, and guidance.
Job Summary:
The Literacy Coach supports the development and delivery of literacy services for FLITE Center. This role works closely with youth and young adults to strength reading skills. The literacy coach will assess and develop a learning plan along with individual or group tutoring.
Responsibilities:
Experience working with youth and young adults particularly in the field of education with a strong commitment to fostering student success. Demonstrates effective communication skills to provide consistent guidance, motivation, and encouragement to a diverse group of young individuals. Conduct intensive literacy assessments and design an individualized learning plan for the youth, using the Benchmark Assessment System. Reviews the literacy assessment to work on implementing the learning plan with the participants. Literacy instruction and tutoring. Work can be 1:1 or small group instruction.
Requirements:
A current or previous (within the last 3 years) literacy certificate in literacy or reading instruction, or a master’s degree in literacy or education. Minimum one year of experience with k-12 literacy instruction with youth or one year of experience with college reading instruction. Prefer experience providing literacy instruction to special populations aged 15 and up. Available during operational hours of 9am-6pm
