Job Summary:
The Reading Interventionist / Teacher assumes a dual role. In the role of the Reading Interventionist, this position will lead the EdisonLearning’s Multi-tiered System of Support (MTSS) team and support tier two and three students needing intervention. The Reading Interventionist will conduct intervention, track data, host MTSS meetings, and contribute to the Student Study Team. The Reading Interventionist will support teachers in the classroom, teach intervention groups for identified students, lead professional development, and support the administrative staff in the coordination and implementation of school activities aligned with the EdisonLearning mission. The Reading Interventionist uses a variety of instructional methodologies and curriculum resources to teach content and skills to students in small- or pull-out groups. The Reading Interventionist is responsible for the academic growth of small groups of students. The Reading Interventionist will meet one-on-one or in small groups with students to assess their current level of performance and provide targeted instructions. The Reading Intervention Teacher is responsible for keeping detailed records of their sessions with students and reviewing data. Under the Teacher role, this position functions as a member of the instructional team, the Teacher will be responsible for facilitating student learning and supplementing direct instruction with computer-based instruction as needed. The Teacher uses a variety of instructional methodologies and curriculum resources to teach content and skills to students in small- or pull-out groups. The Teacher regularly meets with students to advise and plan for students’ individual learning plans, providing coaching and mentoring in an advisory capacity. The Teacher is responsible for the daily instructional delivery of curriculum, assessment, and classroom management that aligns with the school’s vision, mission, and values while also meeting state and national academic standards. The role will be responsible to understand and demonstrate the importance of effective communication with students, school personnel, and parents. These roles work as a part of a team in order to meet the needs of all students. Because building relationships is a critical component of this learning environment, the team works together to identify student needs that may be barriers to success. Collaboration with team members to analyze different means of meeting student needs and communicating with students, parents, and other team members about student progress and plan for next steps, is an important aspect to the success of the achievement model.
Essential Reading Interventionist Responsibilities:
Work individually or in small groups with students to assess current level of performance; Provide targeted instructional that meets the need of each individual student; Write lesson plans and analyze data under the direction of the Lead Teacher and Principal; Operate and care for instructional equipment used in the classroom; Stimulate local initiatives coupled with responsibility for student performance; Provide support for teachers in supporting the needs of students performing below grade level expectations; Assist teachers with making instructional decisions based on student data; Assist teachers with creating instructional materials aligned to student needs and EdisonLearning Curriculum; Other duties as deemed necessary by the Principal;
Essential Teaching Responsibilities:
Grade essays, research papers, and open-ended response items while providing feedback to students; Engage students to ensure a lively classroom atmosphere; Execute lessons effectively and efficiently using different styles of teaching depending on the content; Assessing students literacy level and design and implement a plan to help students learn more efficiently; Teach students to think critically when studying the literature; Identify and select appropriate instructional materials aligned to content standards; Implement relevant information from research and professional literature on best practices in instruction; Demonstrate knowledge of state standards, testing requirements, and graduation requirements within the core content; Analyze formal and informal data and accurately complete student data assessment analysis and provide informative reports regarding student instruction and achievement; Provide small group instruction to students enrolled in an alternative school setting; Keep student attendance; Compose lesson plans that correlate with student needs; Plan and follow daily classroom instruction activities; Work closely with teachers and other colleagues to develop and build teaching skills; Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum, student needs and assessments; Assist in the development and implementation of individual education service plans for students; Provide essential supervision to students in their education requirements; Administer assessments to ascertain academic needs of students enrolled in an alternative setting; Monitor academic progress of students in their coursework; Monitor student progress towards graduation; Maintain ongoing communication with parents, staff, and community as needed; Become proficient in the use of computer based instruction and software; Keep accurate documentation regarding student progress, needs, strengths, grades, observations, anecdotal records, and other related data; Maintain student records and files in a confidential manner; Manage the learning environment and coach students as an advisor and mentor; Contribute to a culture of professionalism among team members; Any other duties assigned by the Principal;

Required Bachelor of Arts / Science Degree in the related field; Appropriate / valid Teacher certification; Reading Endorsement or willing to obtain and add to certification; Minimum Three (3) years of teaching experience; Must be Reading Endorsed or willing to obtain a Reading Endorsement and add to certification; Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook; Preferred Bilingual in Spanish and English; Evidence of working knowledge and comfort level with instructional technology; Experience working with at-risk student population; Evidence of educational experiences after college (fellowships, summer study, or graduate course work to pursue greater depth in a subject area, specific instructional methodology, curriculum development, special education, technology, etc.); Proven experience as a teacher working with student population in some capacity; Benefits and other
