Reading Specialist Position Reef Prep South Miami, FL 33143 Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Reading Specialist to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in literacy education and instructional design, with a focus on fostering a love for reading among students. This role involves working closely with students of various ages, particularly in middle school and high school, to enhance their reading skills and overall comprehension development to overcome the Reading and Writing component of standardize tests. Responsibilities Assess students’ reading abilities and develop tailored instructional plans to meet their individual needs. Implement engaging literacy programs that promote reading comprehension, fluency, and critical thinking. Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate literacy strategies across the curriculum. Provide one-on-one tutoring sessions and small group instruction to support struggling readers. Utilize various instructional materials and resources, including library services, to enhance learning experiences. Design and deliver workshops for parents and educators on effective literacy practices. Monitor student progress through assessments and adjust instructional strategies as necessary. Foster a positive learning environment that encourages student participation and enthusiasm for reading. Skills Strong knowledge of library services and resources for enhancing literacy education. Proficiency in instructional design tailored to diverse learning styles. Experience in middle school and high school educational settings is preferred. Excellent conflict management skills to address challenges that may arise during instruction. Ability to write clear and effective instructional materials and reports. Familiarity with tutoring techniques in both reading and math for comprehensive student support. A deep understanding reading comprehension education principles and practices.
