POSITION OVERVIEW

Admiral Farragut Academy seeks an experienced, dedicated Reading Specialist. The applicant should be a certified reading teacher with Wilson/Orton-Gillingham training, as well as experience with middle school students. Case management and academic coaching class will also be a component of the job.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Reading required; (Master’s preferred)
• State teaching license in Special Education or Reading preferred
• 2 or more year of experience teaching students in a variety of classes and age groups
• Extensive knowledge of learning differences and strategies, specifically in the areas of research-based reading programs
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, parents, and school administration
