Summary The Reading Interventionist enhances literacy instruction by assessing student performance, providing tailored support as needed, and collaborating with teachers and administrators to consult on literacy curricula. Role & Responsibilities The Reading Interventionist’s primary is to support the growth and development of Peace Preparatory Academy’s scholars in literacy. Knowledge of researchbased best practices and interventions in the area of reading.
Ability to promote collaborative planning.
Analyze student and school data individually and collaborate with the teaching staff to make researchbased instructional decisions.
Ability to effectively develop and deliver contentspecific professional learning.
Screen and assess students to establish proper performance level.
Provide intensive instruction to struggling students individually or in small groups within or outside of the students’ classrooms.
Analyze school and student data and recommend modifications to instruction and intervention for students for meeting and exceeding student achievement goals.
Monitor student progress and arrange for academic interventions based on formative and summative assessments.
Serve as a resource in the area of reading for teachers, administrators, and families.
Collaborate with teachers to ensure student mastery of standards by assisting with datadriven instructional planning, integration of technology, and implementation of research based strategies.
Coordinate inperson conferences with parents/guardians and teachers to review student’s progress.
Equip and utilize volunteers for additional support and implementation of research based strategies. Provide shortterm coverage (substitute) for classrooms when the teacher is absent.
Maintain prompt and regular attendance in accordance with paid time off (PTO) policy.
Perform other duties as assigned by principal and immediate supervisor. Education/Qualifications Master’s Degree
Reading Endorsement (preferred)
Minimum three years of experience
Knowledge of current research and best practices in urban education
Must hold or be eligible for a certificate issues by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission at T5 or above
Training in Orton Gillingham (preferred)
Training in Science of Reading (preferred) General Working Hours Monday Friday 7:30 am 3:30 pm.
Includes modified summer schedule.
Occasional weekends and evenings depending on school events and meetings.
