Job Description

All instruction should help young scholars become critical thinkers and innovative problem solvers. Play and movement will be learning tools. The Reading Interventionist at Genesis Innovation Academy plays a crucial role in delivering top-notch instruction, support, and guidance to enhance Reading and Literacy outcomes among students. This involves supporting both school-wide and individual reading objectives, providing targeted interventions for scholars, and collaborating with teachers to implement supplementary classroom supports. The Reading Interventionist takes the lead in fostering a reading culture, striving for excellent reading instruction, instilling enthusiasm for books, and nurturing a sincere and institutional passion for reading.

Duties:

Assists struggling students to improve their literacy skills. Collaborates with teachers in all departments to promote the learning and implementation of best practices in literacy instruction. Creates and examines data to measure the success of literacy programs and instruction. Teach targeted literacy intervention to small groups of students daily using research-based strategies and resources. Conduct individual and school wide assessments in order to evaluate levels and targeted interventions. Review student achievement and assist with placing students in appropriate reading and writing intervention and support services. Meet regularly with the classroom teachers to plan literacy instruction that correlates with the individual student’s needs or as requested by the class Single-Gender Instruction – Genesis has a single-gender model. The Reading Interventionist will work with middle grades girls in our Girls Academy and middle grades boys in our Boys Academy.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in English language arts or a 4-8 certification in English language arts Excellent organizational, planning, and communication skills
