Long-Term Substitute Reading Specialist (Grades K-5)
Location:
Lehigh Valley Academy Regional Charter School, Bethlehem, PA
Assignment Duration:
August 11, 2025•April 2, 2026
Salary Range:
$58,000•$60,750
Lehigh Valley Academy Regional Charter School (LVA) is seeking a qualified and experienced Reading Specialist to serve as a long-term substitute for the 2025-2026 school year. This position supports students in grades K-5 through targeted literacy intervention, small group instruction, and data-informed instructional planning.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct reading instruction to K-5 students in small groups and individual settings.
Collaborate with classroom teachers to align literacy supports with core instruction.
Analyze student performance data to design, adjust, and evaluate intervention plans.
Utilize evidence-based strategies and structured literacy methods to address student needs.
Contribute to curriculum planning and instructional resource development.
Monitor student progress and provide regular updates to families and staff.
Support the school’s MTSS model and participate in team meetings as needed.
Qualifications:
Valid Pennsylvania Reading Specialist Certification Valid Pennsylvania Elementary Education Certification Minimum of 3 years classroom teaching experience
Strong understanding of data-driven instruction and literacy assessments
Experience with Orton-Gillingham or other structured literacy approaches preferred
Knowledge of dyslexia screening, intervention, and instructional supports
Demonstrated ability to lead small group learning and support differentiated instruction
Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills

$58,000 to $60,750 Bi-Weekly
