Job Description

Reading Specialist 3.3 3.3 out of 5 stars Lexington, SC Charter One works with schools across the country to provide all-inclusive education management services. At Charter One we pride ourselves on our thorough knowledge of charter school operations, academics, finance, human resources, information technology, marketing, and more. We handle the day-to-day work so that client school boards can focus on governance and policy issues to be sure that the vision and mission of the school are being carried out properly. American Leadership Academy – Lexington is accepting applications for a Reading Specialist (K-6) for the 2025-2026 academic school year. Candidates must be certified, possess a Reading Endorsement, and be willing to undergo a background check.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist staff with the understanding and interpretation of assessment data to allow for informed instructional decisions upon the release of benchmark data each quarter. Supervise, schedule, inform, train, and evaluate Reading Teacher Assistants. Also review lesson progress charts (LPC’s) created by the Reading teacher assistants to evaluate student growth and content mastery for the week. Utilize the document to provide instructional feedback as needed. Assist with the development and distribution of Parent Involvement Policy and Parent-School Compact. Ensure student eligibility and participation in extended services are maintained (ex. before/after school or summer school).

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelors degree in Education or related field Valid South Carolina Teaching certificate Reading Endorsement K-12 classroom experience Pass applicable background check
