The PWA role primarily creates a culture of positive health and wellness for students, refers students to campus resources to maximize student success, and encourage participation in educational activities. PWAs role and tasks provide the tools to achieve the educational mission of Auburn University at Montgomery, the vision of the Division of Student Affairs, in collaboration with various departments across campus. PWAs will be specifically trained to provide information, engage in advocacy, and support all students on campus through health and wellness related programming and peer coaching throughout the academic year.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Required to complete programming geared around health and wellness. Programming consists of campus-wide programming and collaborative initiatives with student organizations and campus partners. Collaborate with campus community and Montgomery-city departments and resources to identify and create opportunities to educate peers about health and wellness. Engage in collaborative initiatives within Student Affairs to connect peers to campus resources and events that promote the concept of a healthy, balanced life while a student and beyond. Regular attendance at monthly Peer Wellness Ambassador Meetings Attendance at mandatory student staff training
Qualifications:
Must obtain sophomore status (minimum of 24 hours) by the end of the summer term preceding the fall semester of employment. Must have and maintain an AUM cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher. Failure to achieve a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher will result in removal from the position. All PWAs must be registered for a minimum of 12 undergraduate-level hours for both fall and spring terms. Must be in good conduct standing with the university•conduct records will be verified Must be nominated by an AUM professional staff, faculty, or department head.
