Position Summary
The instructor prepares for, teaches, and evaluates a variety of biology classes, both face-to-face and online, for a diverse student body including dual-enrolled students. The instructor keeps regular office hours and devotes a minimum of thirty-five hours per week to performance of his or her duties on campus and at dual-enrollment sites. Teaching assignments will involve travel and may be changed according to the College’s needs. In addition to classroom instruction, the instructor serves on college and divisionmittees, advises students on academic matters, and takes on other assignments, as delegated by the Division Chairperson, the Dean of Instruction, or the President of the College. The instructor must be able to teach courses in biology, anatomy and physiology, and microbiology. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Instructional Duties and Responsibilities:

The instructor shall perform adequate course preparation to include provision of first day course information explaining course objectives, content and procedures, periodic review and revision of course syllabi, materials and methods, and preparation for each class session.
The instructor shall provide adequate classroom instruction to includepliance with policies and procedures stated in the provided first-day course information, maintenance and timely reporting of student records, adnce to regular and punctual class sessions, and presentation of course content to meet course objectives.
The instructor shall perform adequate learning assessment to include use of stated criteria in grading student work, prompt evaluation and return of student work, and evaluation of students according to stated course objectives.
Responsibilities to

Students:

The instructor shall be respectful and exhibit impartial treatment of all students, be accessible outside of scheduled classes, offer academic advisement, and amodate students with documented disabilities.

Divisional Responsibilities:

The instructor shall attend and participate in divisional meetings, cooperate with others to plan and meet divisional goals, provide input into curriculum and program development, andplete other tasks assigned by the division chairperson.

Institutional Responsibilities:

The instructor shall ad to andply with theanizational structure and the policies of the College, cooperate with others to plan and meet the goals of the College, attend and participate in college and faculty meetings, serve onmittees as needed, and perform any other tasks assigned by the Division Chairperson, Dean of Instruction and/or the President.

Personal and Professional Development:

The instructor shall participate in college sponsored professional development programs, identify areas w individual professional development is needed, and procure resources to achieve necessary professional development.
The instructor must be aware of the latest trends in the instructor’s discipline and the field of education as a whole as well as develop and deliver online courses in the discipline.
Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s Degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the discipline of biology. Ability to teach courses in biology, anatomy and physiology, and microbiology.

Salary Schedule D1 $46,590 – $94,363 (9 month) $14,384 – $29,184 (3 month

  • not guaranteed), to be determined by the applicant’s education and years of applicable experience.
