Teaching Full Job Description Overview:
St. John Paul II Catholic High School is seeking a dynamic and dedicated full-time Biology Teacher to join our Science Department for the 2025-2026 academic year. The ideal candidate is passionate about educating young minds through hands-on learning, inquiry-based instruction, and the integration of faith and reason. This individual will be responsible for teaching high school biology courses, which may include Advanced Placement Biology, and will play a key role in shaping students’ understanding of the living world through a Christ-centered lens.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach 4-5 sections of high school science, primarily Biology (including potential AP Biology). Design and deliver engaging, rigorous lessons that incorporate a variety of instructional strategies, including project-based learning, lab work, and technology integration. Maintain a respectful, orderly, and student-centered classroom rooted in the Catholic values of the school. Regularly assess student understanding using diverse assessment tools such as rubrics, performance-based tasks, process assessments, and formative/summative evaluations. Foster curiosity, critical thinking, and a love for science in all students. Create a culture of learning and high expectations by encouraging academic growth and personal development. Establish and maintain open, positive communication with parents, students, and colleagues. Collaborate with other science teachers and faculty across departments to support interdisciplinary learning and school-wide initiatives. Participate actively in the life of the school, including staff meetings, school events, professional development, and assigned supervisory duties. Uphold and support the mission of St. John Paul II Catholic High School.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Secondary Science Education, or a closely related field (Master’s preferred). Valid Florida Teaching Certificate or eligibility to obtain certification. Minimum of three years of high school teaching experience preferred. Demonstrated ability to teach biology content at both introductory and advanced levels, including laboratory components. Strong classroom management and student engagement skills. Experience using instructional technology effectively in the classroom. Must be authorized to work in the United States. Must pass a Level II Background Screening and complete all fingerprinting and child protection training as required by the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee and the State of Florida.
