Job Description

POSITION

High School Science Teacher

QUALIFICATIONS

Massachusetts teacher certified/certifiable in science, grades 9-12.
Ability to teach several grade levels and varied abilities among students simultaneously.
Familiarity with MA Frameworks for science/physics.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Participate in curriculum review and design.
Establishes and (as necessary) adjusts instructional goals and objectives, to reflect district/school goals, curriculum policies, and the knowledge, skills, progress, and needs of students.
Designs lessons that provide opportunities for problem-solving, creativity, and communication skills in relation to authentic, real world problems.
Establishes and maintains standards for behavior that foster positive student relationships.
Commits to on-going professional development in content area and pedagogy.
Plans learning tasks to address individual differences among students
Develops, administers, and evaluates formative and summative for targeted intervention.
Monitors and evaluates students’ progress in relation to the MA Frameworks.
Encourages, secures and maintains the involvement of parents and other community members in support of instruction.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Effectively collaborates with department and grade level teachers.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Abides by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
Attends meetings and performs duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
Serves on committees as assigned.
Remains current on instructional practices in education. (e.g. instructional technology)

SALARY:

In accordance teachers’ contract.
