EEC DESE

Chapter 74 licensed. This position involves teaching high school students in a laboratory pre-school setting.
If not licensed in Chapter 74 EEC, applicant must have appropriate certifications and in field experience to qualify for licensing (as listed below).

  • Bachelor’s Degree,
  • 3 years of recent full time employment (Master’s Degree = 1 year) directly related to early education & care,
  • Possession of an active MA Office of Child Care Services lead teacher license,
  • Passing score on Chapter 74 EEC written & performance exam
  • Passing score on the Communication & Literacy Skills Test or the Vocational Technical Literacy Skills Test.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

1. Is responsible to the CTE Director or his/her designee.
2. Must work cooperatively with other professional personnel.
3. May supervise the work of instructional learning assistants, teacher assistants, volunteers, student
interns as assigned.
4. Evaluated by the principal, CTE Director or his/her designee.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY

1. To exhibit teaching skills which allow for a maximum of learning and a minimum of disciplinary action.
2. Maintains professional relationships with other teachers, students, staff, parents.
3. Demonstrates commitment to continued professional development.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Instruction:

1. Creates and maintains a stimulating physical classroom environment conducive
to learning.
2. Establishes and implements efficient classroom management procedures.
3. Continually evaluates and records various aspects and indicators of students progress.
4. Demonstrates competency in his/her area of training and assignment.
5. Plans lessons effectively; shows evidence of daily and long term planning.
6. Makes provisions for individual differences.
7. Encourages the development of independent work habits.
8. Uses appropriate language for students to model.
9. Uses varied and appropriate instructional techniques to accomplish instructional
objectives.
10. Implements the curriculum as prescribed by the school district.
11. Helps students evaluate their own work.
12. Communicate clearly, using precise language and acceptable oral expressions.
13. Monitors students understanding of the lesson and adjusts teaching when
appropriate.
14. Encourages a positive atmosphere for all students, especially those with special
needs.
15. Demonstrates a positive attitude.
16. Works to help students acquire a positive self-image.

Professional Relationships:

1. Encourages a respect for opinions, rights, property, and contribution of others.
2. Communicates and maintains a working relationship with parents.
3. Maintains confidentiality with respect to students and their performance and
records.
4. Is regularly available for extra-help sessions.
5. Cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping
students resolve attitude, behavior, and learning problems.
6. Leaves clear and complete lessons and instructions for substitutes.
7. Participates in the evaluation and revision of curriculum.

Professional Development:

1. Continually evaluates his/her own behavior and performance as a teacher.
2. Participates actively in a professional development program.
3. Explores new teaching techniques as alternatives to better accomplish
predetermined instructional objectives, including the use of educational
technology.
4. Perform non-instructional duties.
5. Contributes to the school’s extracurricular programs.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Observes the designated working hours.
2. Performs in accordance with school committee and building policies and
regulations as well as the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
3. Performs non-instructional duties as assigned.
