Instructional Science Coach (1.0 Anticipated Vacancy)

Job Summary:
Nantucket Public Schools seeks [1] dynamic Instructional Science Coach (anticipated vacancy) for the 2025-26 academic year. The Instructional Science Coach will support instructional staff with facilitating high-quality learning experiences, differentiating instruction, utilizing meaningful student assessments to inform instruction, and maintaining a safe and effective learning environment. This includes supporting 4 elementary science specialists as well as the middle and high school science departments. He/She will also be directly involved in the NPS Mentoring & Induction Program.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- MA certification or the ability to be certified in(at least one of the following):
oGeneral Science (1-6 or 5-8)
o
Middle School:
Mathematics/Science (6-8)
oBiology, Chemistry, Physics, or Earth and Space Science (8-12)
- 3-5 years of successful K-12 public school teaching experience with proficient evaluation ratings
- Knowledge of Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks for the relevant disciplines
Ideal Candidate:
- Professional teaching license
- Experience in coaching and mentoring is highly preferred
- Strong understanding of science pedagogy, curriculum design, and assessment in the relevant disciplines
- Commitment to culturally responsive teaching and fostering an inclusive classroom environment
- Excellent communication, collaboration, organization and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build positive, collaborative relationships with teachers and administrators
- Strong data-analysis skills
- Knowledgeable of current education research and application to practice
- Experience teaching or leading Smithsonian Science for the Classroom, OpenSciEd, and/or PLTW.
