Job Description
Fifth and sixth grades are departmentalized. Fifth and sixth grade teachers teach English, science, social
studies, math, religion or a combination of those subjects to multiple sections of fifth and sixth graders.
- Teach 5th and 6th grade science (4 classes per day/20 classes per week)
- Teach 3rd and 4th grade STEM (8 classes per week)
- Serve as a homeroom teacher
- Implement the designed curriculum and programs (academic, social-emotional, and
religious/spiritual) - Work collaboratively on curriculum implementation, instructional practice, and teaching and
learning cycles with your partner teacher, colleagues, and instructional coaches - Prepare classroom lessons and activities according to best practices and the school’s instructional
vision - Prepare classroom lesson plans according to science standards
- Adapt and modify techniques and materials for effectiveness as necessary under the guidance of
administration or instructional coaches
