DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

(Other duties may be assigned)1. Plans and develops course of study suitable for a particular grade level and subjectfollowing curriculum guidelines of school district and state requirements.2. Develops and presents specific lesson plans, using a variety of means, includinglectures, projects, group discussions, exhibits, field trips, audiovisual and libraryresources, computers, and the Internet.3. Prepares assignments and tests for in-school preparation and homework. Monitors,assists, corrects, and grades student performances.4. Conducts standardized tests in accordance with district policies and state law.5. Maintains order in classroom, and administers discipline when necessary to achieveproper behavior.6. Shares, with other teachers, lunchroom duties and responsibility for monitoring halls,recess periods and bus supervision.7. Counsels students when academic difficulties or behavioral problems arise.8. Keeps records of academic performance, attendance, and social acclimation. Reportson all aspects of student development for school records and parents; conducts parent-teacher conferences on both a regularly scheduled and as-needed basis.9. Keeps parents informed of student progress through regularly scheduledprogress reports and report card procedures as well direct contact withparents when student performance declines or as requested by parents.10. Consults with other professionals where there appears to be evidence of learningdisabilities or problems of social adjustment. Coordinates decisions with parentsconcerning any specialized intervention that appears warranted. Reports cases ofsuspected child abuse according to state law.11. Recommends promotion and/or placement of students in appropriate classroomsituation for ensuing year.12. Participates in faculty meetings, educational conferences, professional trainingseminars, and workshops.13. Reviews district crisis plan annually.13. Maintains current appropriate state certification for teaching assignment.
