Job Summary:
The College Preparatory and Leadership Academy is seeking a knowledgeable and innovative Middle and High School Computer Science Teacher to lead and grow our computer science program. The ideal candidate will have a passion for technology education, experience teaching programming and computer science principles, and the ability to inspire students through engaging, hands-on instruction. This position includes teaching middle and high school courses in computer science and related technology fields.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement a standards-based computer science curriculum for grades 6-12. Teach a range of topics such as programming (e.g., Python, Java, HTML/CSS), computer systems, data structures, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies. Promote computational thinking, problem-solving, and digital literacy in the classroom. Prepare students for participation in technology competitions, coding clubs, and certification opportunities. Create an engaging classroom environment that supports all learners. Collaborate with colleagues to integrate technology and computer science across disciplines. Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with families. Participate in school events, staff meetings, and ongoing professional development.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (required). Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 (required for licensure eligibility). Eligible for a teaching license or currently licensed in Computer Science, Technology Education, or a related field by the state Department of Education.
Additional Requirements:
Knowledge of computer science education standards and best practices. Experience teaching middle and/or high school students preferred. Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills. Familiarity with educational technology tools and platforms.
