Full Job Description Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Chemistry Teacher to join the faculty at Albany Area High School. The ideal candidate will inspire and engage students in the study of chemistry, fostering a deep understanding of scientific principles and their applications. This full-time position requires a commitment to creating a dynamic learning environment that encourages critical thinking, collaboration, and a love for science.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state standards and curriculum requirements. Teach chemistry concepts through lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on laboratory experiments. Assess student progress through assignments, tests, and projects, providing timely feedback to support their learning. Create a positive classroom environment that promotes respect, enthusiasm, and active participation. Collaborate with other educators to integrate interdisciplinary approaches and enhance the overall educational experience. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance. Communicate regularly with students, parents, and staff regarding academic progress and any concerns. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events to contribute to the school community. Stay current with developments in the field of chemistry and educational best practices.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Education, or a related field. Valid teaching certification in Chemistry for secondary education. Strong knowledge of chemistry concepts and laboratory practices. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to create an inclusive and engaging classroom environment. Experience with using technology and digital resources for teaching and assessment. Commitment to ongoing professional development and growth as an educator. Prior teaching experience is preferred but not required.

Salary Range:
$43,836 – $82,127 The salary range is based on the 2024-2025 school year union contract; these amounts will be subject to change/increase once the new contract is settled.
