Job Overview:
- To plan, organize, and implement a grade level appropriate instructional program in a middle school science classroom that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.

Responsibilities and Duties:
- Help students develop the skills and strategies for scientific problem solving
- Understand the basic concepts of science
- Show students what scientists do as individuals and as a community
- Demonstrate and model how scientific hypotheses are created and tested
- Lead students to make educated hypotheses or predictions as to possible outcomes of a process or experiment
- Model safety in the classroom with teacher-selected equipment for observation and measurement
- Teach students how to record data in an objective fashion using pictures, writing, and charts
- Create standard based lesson plans and modify accordingly throughout the year
- Maintain grade books in Power School that are updated regularly
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by invoking approved disciplinary procedures
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
- Assist with arrivals and dismissal of students
- Assist with coverage of other classes as needed
- Communicate with parents/guardians
- Collaborate with other colleagues
- Selects books, instructional aids and supplies that aid in the teaching of the curriculum
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervising teacher, Principal or his/her designee.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid Pennsylvania teaching certification
- completed or in progress
- One or more years of teaching experience
- Communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Federal, state, and child abuse background checks required.
