Rhode Island Department of Education Secondary Grades Science 7th 12th grade1.RI Teaching Certification2.Undergraduate Degree Education, Masters Degree in High School Science3.Maintain Professional Development Credits as Required by Contract and Certification4.Develops standards for critical analysis through group discussions based on a variety of mass media and science topics5.Encourages students to think independently6.Displays strong and deep knowledge of the philosophical foundations and content of the curriculum7.Applies current research-based best instructional practices and strategies to deliver the curriculum, and understands how knowledge is constructed within the discipline8.Plans and prepares lessons to optimize learning9.Promotes deep understanding of content by addressing unique learning styles, adapting instruction to meet the needs of all students, engaging students in rigorous learning experiences, using effective questioning techniques, and relating instruction to the student’s life and to prior and future learning. 10. Contribute to and implement plans, including but not limited to IEPs, 504s, and individual health plans, for students with unique needs 11. Reinforces strong student effort and excellent student work products. 12. Facilitates student learning through the use of various collaborative grouping structures that are appropriate to the instructional task, as well as regular and ongoing student reflections, student self-data tracking. 13. Requires students to regularly engage in high-level activities, including but not limited to the application and analysis of information. 14. Makes appropriate referrals and is prepared with credible and accurate documentation.15. Organizes all facets of the instructional delivery system so that all equipment and instructional tools are ready for use, ensures smooth transitions maximize time on task and guarantee the efficient distribution of resources 16. Actively engages in professional learning community activities and common planning time. 17. Consults and collaborates regularly and professionally with colleagues, students, and parents; communicate immediately with all when there are concerns. 18.
