Tallo's Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Department Chair, the Science teacher at South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities in Greenville, SC develops a curriculum in accordance with state and national standards, utilizing the South Carolina Curriculum Standards and the school's curriculum adopted by the Board of Directors. Science faculty will occasionally rotate teaching responsibilities, so a generalist background is helpful. The current position includes Environmental Science (CP and Advanced Placement) and Marine Science (H). The rotation of courses includes Advanced Placement Biology in alternating years. All faculty design and implement an instructional program that supports student success in accordance with the mission and core beliefs of the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities, including development of appropriate differentiated instructional strategies and other mechanisms to meet the needs of the school's diverse student population. Other duties include developing and pursuing an annual goal in a three-year cycle as part of an ongoing performance evaluation program. One goal should be set in each of these areas: Content, Instructional, and Professional. Participating in faculty and departmental meetings, committees, programs, and other events that promote excellence and growth in the department and school. Participating in the audition/admissions review process as requested, and demonstrating interest and engagement in student performances and other school-wide activities. Contributing to the Humanities program by leading a section of the class on Humanities days, and participating in school-wide Humanities events. Demonstrating excellence in one's own artistic and academic pursuits, by seeking opportunities for professional growth and representing SCGSAH through active involvement in professional organizations. Performing other related duties as may be assigned by the department chair or administration.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
An advanced degree and three years teaching experience in the appropriate discipline (Science) at the secondary or post-secondary level. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will have documented professional activity and recognized success as a scholar/learner. The candidate must have, or have the qualifications to obtain, teaching certification in South Carolina.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The preferred candidate will have at least five years teaching experience, demonstrated evidence of understanding and/or experience of academics as they relate to the arts, and the knowledge and interpersonal skills to teach high school students in a residential setting.
