We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Health Science Teacher to join our Career and Technical Education (CTE) team. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in Health Science education courses to prepare students for post-secondary education and careers in the healthcare industry. The ideal candidate will possess both educational and practical healthcare experience, a commitment to student success, and the ability to teach and model professional, ethical, and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement engaging, standards-based lesson plans aligned with curriculum frameworks and industry standards. Instruct students in key health science content areas, including: Careers in public health, therapeutics, diagnostics, health services administration, and support services. Healthcare system structures, delivery models, and comparative systems analysis. Legal and ethical issues in healthcare settings. Foundational healthcare skills and procedures (e.g., vital signs, hygiene, infection control). Patient/client assessment, monitoring, evaluation, and documentation. Overview and rationale for common treatments and interventions. Prepare students for recognized industry certifications (CPR, CNA, OSHA, CCMA, etc.). Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and technologies to meet diverse learning needs. Assess student performance through formative and summative assessments and maintain accurate records. Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and professionalism. Collaborate with local healthcare professionals, advisory boards, and community stakeholders to enhance curriculum and provide students with career exposure. Coordinate student participation in clinical observations, internships, job shadowing, or simulated work experiences (as applicable). Maintain compliance with federal, state, and district guidelines and documentation. Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with industry trends and best teaching practices.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Health Science, Nursing, Public Health, or a related healthcare field. Appropriate teaching certification or licensure (or eligibility to obtain one) in Health Science or CTE Health Careers.
Preferred:
Teaching experience at the high school or post-secondary level. Current certifications relevant to health care instruction (e.g., CPR Instructor, CNA, EMT). Experience with dual enrollment, career readiness, or technical education programs.
