OLD COLONY Y MIDDLEBORO DIVISION JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE
Lead Gymnastics Instructor
CLASSIFICATION
REPORTS TO:
Senior Program Director Non-Exempt SUMMARY Under the supervision of the Senior Program Director, the Lead Gymnastics Instructor is responsible to provide planning, supervision and oral instruction to gymnastics programs creating a safe, positive, supportive environment for all participants. The Lead Gymnastics Instructor will promote the social, cultural, educational, and physical potential of the participants. The Lead Gymnastics Instructor will uphold the employee code of conduct and will ensure that all areas of the job responsibilities reflect the mission of the Old Colony Y, and the regulating agencies. The Lead Gymnastics Instructor will display and encourage the character traits of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach classes based on the YMCA’s Sport Philosophy. Incorporate the YMCA’s mission of developing healthy mind, body, and spirit into programs. Ability to supervise 8-9 students with control, enthusiasm and proper safety precautions. Ability to demonstrate basic gymnastics skills (forward roll, backward roll, running and jumping.) Make sure all participants have a fun, enjoyable time. Create lesson plans and materials necessary for leading classes. Take control and assign staff responsibilities in order to lead class efficiently. Ensure progression and monitor enrollment growth for assigned classes. Compile program records including attendance, questionnaires, evaluations, accident/incident reports, and incentive plans. Attend all staff meetings.
SUPERVISION OF PERSONNEL
Ensure all staff on duty are productive and informed in order to run classes efficiently.
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY
None
FACILITY/HOUSEKEEPING RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure that all equipment is safe. Leave facilities clean and secure.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Must be at least 18 years of age. Knowledgeable with the USAG progressions Gymnastics coaching experience. Competitive gymnastics experience Ability to work with people of all ages. Strong verbal and written communications skills. Must be mature, enthusiastic and caring. Must have current CPR/AED certification and D2L training within 60 days of employment. Must be available at least three evenings per week for practice and weekends for competitions.
