Open to all curious learners, the goal of the camp is to cultivate interest and excitement around subjects related to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through interactive, hands-on activities. Tech Camp runs for 3 weeks in July on the University of New Hampshire Durham campus. We are seeking an enthusiastic and organized individual to fill the role of Tech Camp Manager (hereafter, Camp Manager) at UNH Tech Camp in Durham, NH. The Camp Manager will work in conjunction with the larger Tech Camp leadership team and report to the Tech Camp Director. Their primary responsibility will be to oversee all aspects of the summer camp program, ensuring a safe, fun, and enriching experience for campers and staff alike. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for working with children. Duties/Responsibilities Staff Supervision
- 70% Provide ongoing supervision, support, and feedback to staff members to ensure high-quality programming and positive camper experiences Manage staff scheduling and assignments, including breaks and mealtimes Develop and lead a staff training day, in conjunction with Camp Leadership Follow and enforce all safety procedures and emergency protocols as set forth by UNH Tech Camp and the UNH Youth Programs Office to ensure the well-being of campers and staff Camper Experience & Safety•20% Foster a positive and inclusive camp environment where campers feel safe, valued, and empowered to explore new experiences Address camper concerns, conflicts, and behavior issues in a proactive and constructive manner, following all required UNH Youth Programs protocols for behavior management and incident reporting Respond promptly and effectively to any incidents, accidents, or emergencies that may arise Communicate quickly and efficiently with staff and Camp Leadership in the event of an emergency Organize and maintain confidential camper records that can quickly and easily be accessed in case of an emergency or medical situation Develop and execute protocols for student drop off and pick up in accordance with UNH Youth Programs and Tech Camp policies Communication and Outreach•10% Serve as the primary point of contact for parents, guardians, and external stakeholders regarding camp-related inquiries, concerns, and updates while camp is in session Collaborate with the Tech Camp communications manager to provide updates to families while camp is in session
Minimum Qualifications Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience :
Bachelor’s degree in education, recreation management, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Strong leadership skills with the ability to shift priorities quickly and maintain a positive mindset in the face of challenges Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications :
Previous experience working in a summer camp or similar youth-focused program Experience managing a team of staff members in a camp setting Current certification in CPR/First Aid Experience working with diverse populations, including children with special needs or from different cultural backgrounds.
