Education:
High School DiplomaWork Experience Requirement:
The Counselor must have effective classroom skills, and a strong commitment to providing high quality activities for youth. Previous experience in a summer camp or after school activities setting is preferred.
About the
Role:
The Summer Camp Counselor will assist the Camp Coordinator to ensure the delivery of fun, safe, and enriching camp activities, and foster a positive, engaging environment for campers and their families.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Implement the lesson plans for activities, ensuring adherence to safety standards and best practices in youth recreation.
- Teach camp activities and skills that support enrichment in areas including sports, arts, literacy, computers, STEM, etc.
- Help to staff special events, field trips, and theme days to enhance the camper experience.
- Maintain student safety and provide a supportive learning environment.
- Ensure all children are accounted for at all times.
- Foster positive relationships with campers and families, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive environment.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding camp updates, camper progress, and any issues.
- Assist with family events or showcases to highlight camper experiences and achievements.
- Help the Coordinator to stay current with trends and innovations in summer camp programming and help Implement new ideas to keep the camp experience fresh and engaging.
- Actively participate in staff development and training.
- Help students improve social skills and assist in enrichment activities.
