Summary:

We are seeking an energetic and organized STEAM Camp Director/Instructor to fill in temporarily during key weeks of our summer program. This is a seasonal, summer-only position providing short-term coverage for both instructional and director-level responsibilities at two locations. The fill-in role requires a mix of on-site teaching, staff leadership, and basic logistical oversight during the assigned camp sessions.

Responsibilities:

• Step in as a substitute Instructor and/or Camp Director during assigned dates
• Deliver engaging, hands-on STEAM experiences to campers using pre-developed curricula
• Manage a small team of counselors, instructors, and volunteers during director coverage weeks
• Communicate professionally with parents and guardians when needed
• Address camper behavior, staff questions, or operational issues as they arise
• Assist with setup, breakdown, and logistical needs to ensure smooth day-to-day operations

Qualifications:

• A strong background in STEAM subjects is preferred (e.g., basic coding, 3D printing, robotics, and engineering)
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in teaching and/or camp environments preferred
• Familiarity with classroom and behavior management strategies

• Solid leadership skills, with the ability to support and motivate a team
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities, particularly in dynamic camp settings
• Adaptability and professionalism in stepping into temporary roles on short notice
• Ability to maintain a safe, inclusive, and high-energy environment for campers and staff

Work Environment:

• On-site leadership and instruction required during assigned camp week.
• Work takes place both indoors and outdoors, depending on daily activities
• Responsible for maintaining continuity in programming and operations during staff absences

Compensation & Benefits:

• Hourly pay of $28.75/hr for each fill-in period, with the opportunity to earn summer camp tips
