Summary:
We are seeking an energetic and organized STEAM Camp Director/Instructor to fill in temporarily during key weeks of our summer program. This is a seasonal, summer-only position providing short-term coverage for both instructional and director-level responsibilities at two locations. The fill-in role requires a mix of on-site teaching, staff leadership, and basic logistical oversight during the assigned camp sessions.
Responsibilities:
- Step in as a substitute Instructor and/or Camp Director during assigned dates
- Deliver engaging, hands-on STEAM experiences to campers using pre-developed curricula
- Manage a small team of counselors, instructors, and volunteers during director coverage weeks
- Communicate professionally with parents and guardians when needed
- Address camper behavior, staff questions, or operational issues as they arise
- Assist with setup, breakdown, and logistical needs to ensure smooth day-to-day operations
Qualifications:
- A strong background in STEAM subjects is preferred (e.g., basic coding, 3D printing, robotics, and engineering)
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in teaching and/or camp environments preferred
- Familiarity with classroom and behavior management strategies
Skills:
- Solid leadership skills, with the ability to support and motivate a team
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities, particularly in dynamic camp settings
- Adaptability and professionalism in stepping into temporary roles on short notice
- Ability to maintain a safe, inclusive, and high-energy environment for campers and staff
Work Environment:
- On-site leadership and instruction required during assigned camp week.
- Work takes place both indoors and outdoors, depending on daily activities
- Responsible for maintaining continuity in programming and operations during staff absences
Compensation & Benefits:
- Hourly pay of $28.75/hr for each fill-in period, with the opportunity to earn summer camp tips
