Negotiable Annual General Description/Primary Purpose:

The Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Work is seeking a 9-month, non-tenure earning Instructor of Social Work. Position responsibilities include teaching four courses each semester and engaging in meaningful service to the Department, University, and discipline. UNF faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of academic excellence. The successful candidate will teach both undergraduate and graduate social work and social welfare courses. Candidates must demonstrate the commitment and capability to provide an excellent learning environment to students, work with student-centered methods of instruction, and contribute to the continuing development and implementation of curricular content. Applicants must describe their ability to teach and/or mentor students with different levels of preparation and/or a variety of prior academic experiences. This campus-based, in-person position will serve the department’s CSWE-Accredited

BSW & MSW

programs. The mission of the UNF Social Work program is to prepare students with generalist knowledge, values, and skills to provide effective social work services to diverse client systems in a variety of practice settings. Our curriculum is aligned with the CSWE’s 2022 Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum required qualifications include having earned a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from a CSWE-Accredited program, plus be actively licensed to the equivalent of a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Florida. Candidates must have teaching experience at the university-level or equivalent experience preparing curriculum, planning, and facilitating trainings, workshops, continuing education opportunities, etc. and/or providing clinical supervision or field internship supervision.

Preferred Qualifications/Skills:

Practice experience in medical social work specialties that may include oncology, pediatric, geriatric, emergency/ICU, transplant, dialysis, etc. in settings such as hospitals, cancer treatment centers, hospice, specialty outpatient clinics, medically compromised behavioral health units, outpatient rehabilitation units, etc. is strongly preferred. One year of teaching experience in social work higher education at the undergraduate-level and/or graduate-level is preferred.
