EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

This full-time faculty position is a nine-month position, requiring a presence on campus with the faculty member’s primary efforts focused on teaching and learning, academic excellence and student success. Primary responsibilities include designing and implementing learning strategies for students in the Early Childhood program. This position reports directly to the Division Chair of Social and Behavioral Sciences. Davidson-Davie Community College faculty members have the following responsibilities including, but not limited to: Promote the college mission, vision and valuesTeach assigned courses at various locations to meet program needs, including, but not limited to day, evening, weekend, and onlineEnsure that each class session contains essential curricular components, has appropriate content and pedagogy, and maintains currencyEvaluate student progress and provide appropriate, timely feedbackProvide and/or facilitate quality experiences in the learning environment(s) to meet program needsDevelop course syllabi and provide appropriate written information to students concerning course evaluation and criteriaIncorporate appropriate instructional technology to enhance student learning Assist in the evaluation of courses and programsPrepare and submit instructional records, reports and grades established by institutional policy.

Participate in professional development to enhance instructional and technical skillsAttend appropriate internal and external meetingsAssist in student recruitment and retentionMaintain accessibility to students, faculty and staffMaintain a high level of sensitivity, understanding, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds.

Perform other tasks as assigned which support the mission and initiatives of the College.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION ADA

requirements for this position include critical thinking skills with the ability to process information and exercise good judgment; ease of mobility within the work environment and other areas of campus and College locations; travel between campus locations may be required; and effective use of all forms of communication including use of computers.
