Adjunct Instructor, Sociology 4.2 4.2 out of 5 stars 9101 Fayetteville Road, Raleigh, NC 27603 Position Description Wake Technical Community College is seeking to expand our pool of part-time faculty to teach Sociology classes. Openings for these positions may or may not be available at this time; however, after a review of qualifications, applicants may be contacted in the future. Adjunct faculty positions provide quality, effective instruction in assigned courses on a part-time, temporary basis. Responsibilities and Duties (•Essential Functions) To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily. Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment Grades and returns student work in a timely manner Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course Constructs classroom materials that support the goals of the course Designs curriculum and a schedule of instruction Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching Maintains communication with instructors from other divisions in order to keep courses up-to-date and appropriate Attends professional development opportunities when possible
Qualifications Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Able to use a wide variety of teaching methods to promote learning Be innovative, creative, motivated Ability to exhibit good interpersonal skills and work well with others Able to maintain records accurately and be able to meet deadlines consistently Good organizational skills Knowledge of and familiar with technology and software including, computers and web-based resources such as BlackBoard. Able to perform normal duties with minimal supervision Excellent communication skills both written and verbal Demonstrates resourcefulness, initiative, enthusiasm, and a sincere interest in helping students reach their maximum potential
Requirements:
Master’s degree in Sociology OR a Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in Sociology Unofficial college transcripts must be uploaded with your application or submitted to the HR office prior to consideration for interview.
Preferences:
Community College teaching experience Teaching experience in Sociology Knowledge of Blackboard and on line teaching experience
