Academy High School is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Cybersecurity Teacher to join our high school faculty and teach students in grades 9 through 11. The ideal candidate will foster foundational and advanced understanding of cybersecurity concepts, digital citizenship, ethical hacking, and network security in an engaging and age-appropriate manner. This role includes curriculum development, classroom instruction, and mentorship to inspire the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field. Certified or formally trained in cybersecurity (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CEH, or recognized cybersecurity educator training). Valid teaching credential/license Experience with high school students or adolescent learners. Strong communication, classroom management, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching in a high school or secondary school environment. Knowledge of national cybersecurity education frameworks (e.g., NICE Cybersecurity Workforce Framework). Familiarity with project-based and inquiry-based learning approaches. Participation in or coaching of cybersecurity competitions like CyberPatriot, picoCTF, or Capture the Flag (CTF) events.
Essential Duties:
Design and deliver engaging lessons on cybersecurity principles, network security, ethical hacking, cyber hygiene, digital forensics, and related topics. Use hands-on labs and simulations to reinforce real-world cybersecurity skills. Integrate industry-standard tools and platforms (e.g., Kali Linux, Wireshark, virtual machines, etc.) into instruction. Prepare students for certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CyberPatriot competitions, or equivalent programs (optional based on school goals). Develop lesson plans aligned with state and national computer science/cybersecurity standards. Assess student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback. Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment. Collaborate with other educators to promote STEM and technology career pathways. Participate in professional development and school-wide activities.
