  • Help students with special needs build lifeskills, confidence, and independence in a supportive schoolenvironment. Your Role as a Special Education Teacher IEP Development & Instruction
  • Contribute to the developmentand implementation of IEPs, lesson plans, and instructionalstrategies tailored to students’ individual needs and goals. Documentation & Reporting
  • Submit required documentation,including IEPs, progress reports, and evaluation reports, in atimely manner. Collaboration & Communication
  • Work with multidisciplinaryteams, parents, and staff to provide appropriate services andsupport student progress. Classroom Management & Behavior Support
  • Maintain an organizedand structured classroom while implementing behavior managementstrategies and crisis intervention techniques. Assessment & Progress Monitoring
  • Conduct assessments, trackstudent progress, and document behavior data to support evaluationsand behavior plans. Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure safety, adhere to policies (includingconfidentiality and PPE use), and assist students with self-care asneeded. Required Qualifications Teaching Certification
  • Must hold an active PA teachingcertification, such as a Private Academic Certificate, Level I orII Pennsylvania Instructional Special Education CertificationK-12. Alternative Qualification
  • Candidates with a bachelor’s degreeand at least six credit hours in special education may qualify fora Temporary Private Academic Certificate. Licensing Deadline
  • All New Story School teachers must obtaintheir PA license by August 1, 2025. Work Authorization
  • Must be authorized to work in the UnitedStates without employer sponsorship.
