Teaching University Full Job Description SUMMARY:

To provide coordination, management, and implementation of teacher and student initiatives, programs and/or projects; while acting as liaison between stakeholders and internal/external teams to ensure successful execution and program development that may have system-wide impact.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

: Coordinates, manages, implements, and/or evaluates assigned programs/projects within the school system that align with broad organizational goals. Designs, develops, and deploys programs/projects and services as assigned. Oversees a variety of programs/projects simultaneously with professionalism and precision. Participates in the recruitment and retention of teachers and other personnel to include the execution of exit questionnaires. Coordinates a variety of programs/projects including district-wide initiatives that occur periodically and/or annually (e.g. New Teacher Induction Program/New Teacher Academy, Alabama Teacher Mentoring Program, Teacher of the Year Program which encompasses New Teacher of the Year and Staff Member of the Year components, etc.). Monitors and provides reports to appropriate supervisory personnel regarding new teachers. Serves as a liaison between the school system and local colleges/universities for the placement of interns in collaboration with the Human Resources Staff. Develops, organizes, and promotes events aimed at increasing morale and collaboration among new teachers. Acts as a liaison between internal and external departments to include Central Office Supervisors and Building Level Administrators as deemed appropriate and necessary. Designs and implements recognition programs and celebrations for students who receive scholarships. Helps to secure scholarships for students while working in tandem with school counselors and administrators. Conducts programs designed to provide students with preparation for job and scholarship interviews. Manages a social media page devoted to scholarship announcements and other pertinent information for students (e.g. Free Application for Federal Student Aid=FAFSA). Serves as a liaison and point of contact for military initiatives (e.g. Purple Star Program). Completes programs/projects according to established timelines. Ensures the accuracy and completeness of reports. Constructs reports from an analysis of data gleaned from programs/projects that are implemented. Demonstrates professional ethics.

COORDINATOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Carries out coordinator responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include participating in the recruitment and retention of employees, organizing and implementing assigned programs/projects within the school system, collaborating with supervisors and administrators regarding scholarship opportunities for students, managing a social media page devoted to important information, and serving as a liaison for military initiatives.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary is negotiable based on experience and education.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Master’s degree (M.A.) from an accredited college or university. Minimum of five years of related experience in the field of school administration. Preference is given to applicants with administrative experience within Decatur City Schools and a working knowledge of Decatur City Schools’ processes, programs, and initiatives.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, teachers, parents, regulatory agencies and members of the business community. Ability to write, speak and present information effectively.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, ratios, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS

Alabama Class A Certificate with proper endorsements in school administration. Valid Alabama Drivers License.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, equipment or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift, push, pull, carry, and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Use the following information when requesting verification of experience from your past employment at other boards of education: Within the state of Alabama, experience must be verified on Supplement EXP Outside the state of Alabama, we must have a letter (on school district letterhead) or public school district form showing beginning and ending dates stating your years of service and position held while employed Credit is awarded for public school experience only, private, parochial, or similar experience will not be accepted Experience must be full time at least 50%-100% of the academic year Administrative credit will be awarded only for experience in the same position, i.e., principal for principal position as stated in the salary schedule

Transfer Sick Leave:

If you have sick leave from another state school system or from another state of Alabama agency, you must have a Sick Leave Transfer form sent from your previous employer to our Human Resources department The Decatur City Board of Education awards a salary based on the highest degree earned, even if the degree is outside education. The degree must be verified on an official transcript & recognized by the Alabama State Department of Education.
