197 days Reports to Executive Director of Special Services and Special Education Coordinators Position Purpose
The purpose of this position is to work with District Special Education Leadership and Building Administration to provide specialized coaching support to educators working with students who require unique instructional strategies and behavioral interventions. Essential Functions
Establish a rapport and assist parents/guardians of special education students
Professional Development
Plan/facilitate workshops, training sessions, and professional learning communities focused on strategies for supporting students with complex needs
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and inclusion within the school community
Data Analysis
Use data to assess student progress and inform instructional decision-making
Support educators in data-driven approaches to refine teaching methods and improve student outcomes
Work with teachers to continually review progress monitoring data and ensure data is reported with fidelity
Support district teachers
Assist building staff with Pre•Kindergarten transitions (Elementary School), building to building transitions and Transition Planning (Secondary School)
Work with teachers and other building level staff to ensure student schedules and groupings align with special education services, IEP goals, and transition plans
Assist administration/teachers with development of schedules for special education paraprofessionals within the building
Collaborate with District Special Education Leadership to provide support for teachers who need assistance in curriculum, instruction and transition planning by providing coaching supports for implementation
Attend grade level and/or content area PLC Meetings and Sped required training/meetings
Behavioral Supports
Collaborate with district Behavior Support Specialist
Offer coaching to teachers in the areas of classwide structure and set up in the following areas: zoning plans, visual supports, positive reinforcement, routines, work systems, etc.
Provide assistance to building staff members in developing behavior intervention plans and conducting observations to provided targeted feedback
Offer coaching and consultation on effective behavior management strategies for students with behavior concerns
Complete fidelity checks on existing behavioral intervention plans; provide coaching supports for implementation
Other essential duties
Assist with dissemination of information from District Special Education Office/Central Office
Meet with District Special Education Leadership on a scheduled basis
Under the guidance and direction of district Special Education Leadership, ensure campus staff have the instructional resources, materials, and training needed for their classroom assignment Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Executive Director of Special Services, Special Education Coordinator(s), and other Central Office Administrators as designated by the Superintendent Note

Travels to school buildings and professional meetings as required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of state and federal special education laws, rules and guidelines Knowledge of of Applied Behavior Analysis strategies
Knowledge of assessments that will help in writing adaptive behavior goals
Proficient in skills in completing special education due process paperwork Ability to apply and coach in the area of classwide behavior structures and routines
Understanding of crisis management procedures Successful special education teaching experience, preferred
Evidence of strong organizational skills
Evidence of strong oral and written communication skills
Proficient in basic computer programs (Google Suite) needed for successful job performance (others could include APSCN, TRIAND, eSchool, special education software)
Knowledge and skills in the implementation of Universal Design for Learning, Differentiated Instruction, Scaffolding, High Leverage Practices and other inclusive supports
Knowledge and skills in designing instruction for structured learning classrooms
Knowledge and skills in leading collaborative team meetings as part of the PLC process
Successful experience in supporting and coaching adult learners Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards
Works in standard office and school building environments Certification/License
Arkansas State Certification as teacher in an area that meets the position’s essential duties and responsibilities Education
Degree in Special Education or related field; MSE/Admin preferred Experience
Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level is a plus. FLSA Status Exempt
