Job Description
The Texarkana Arkansas is accepting applications for a Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) teacher for grades 6-8 for the 2025-2026 school year. The Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Teacher provides direct instruction and targeted support to students in the development of social-emotional and behavioral skills while also offering academic support to help students access and succeed in the general education curriculum. This role bridges emotional regulation and academic achievement, ensuring students develop skills necessary for both personal and academic success. The SEL Teacher collaborates closely with classroom teachers, counselors, interventionists, and administrators to provide a supportive, inclusive, and structured learning environment.
Qualifications:
Required:
Valid Arkansas teaching license
Demonstrated experience supporting students with behavioral or social-emotional needs
Strong knowledge of academic intervention strategies and classroom instructional practices
Preferred:
Certification in special education or behavior support
Familiarity with Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports
Experience in alternative learning settings
Responsibilities and Duties:
Provide academic support and reteaching in core content areas as needed. Model and reinforce positive behaviors and coping strategies.
Support students in building self-awareness, social skills, and emotional regulation.
Assist in the development and implementation of behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
Assist students in building organizational and executive functioning skills necessary for classroom success.
Modify assignments and assessments to meet individual student needs in collaboration with special education and general education staff.
Track student progress on SEL and academic goals using data collection tools.
Maintain documentation of interventions, progress, and communication with stakeholders.
Participate in IEP, 504, and student support team meetings, contributing to the development of appropriate goals and accommodations.
Communicate regularly with families to support student behavior and learning.
Provide guidance and resources to families on SEL and academic strategies.
Participate in family conferences and community outreach events.

$50,000 to $63,501 Per Year
