An exciting opportunity exists for educators specializing in supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, within an engaging elementary school environment located in New Haven, CT. This contract position is focused on fostering an inclusive and stimulating learning atmosphere that meets the diverse needs of each student.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or related field. Valid teaching certification or license in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education. Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication methods. Experience working with elementary-aged students preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with support staff. Create a supportive and adaptive learning environment tailored to students needs. Utilize appropriate teaching strategies to enhance students communication and academic skills. Regularly assess and monitor students progress, adjusting instruction as necessary. Collaborate with parents, staff, and specialists to promote students overall development.
