Head Teacher Nicky’s Starlight Daycare New Haven, CT 06511 Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Head Teacher. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in childhood development and behavior management, with a passion for fostering an inclusive and nurturing learning environment. The Head Teacher will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the daycare, ensuring high-quality education, and implementing effective teaching strategies that align with our educational philosophy, that support growth and development. Duties Provide leadership and vision for the daycare, promoting a culture of academic excellence and personal growth. Develop and implement curriculum plans that meet the needs of all students, including those in special education programs. Oversee lesson planning and ensure that literacy education is effectively integrated into all subjects. Manage lesson plans for assistant teachers, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. Collaborate with assistant teachers to enhance classroom management skills and behavior management strategies. Foster relationships with parents, staff, and the community to support student learning and well-being. Conduct regular evaluations of staff performance and provide professional development opportunities. Ensure compliance with all relevant educational policies and regulations within a daycare center setting. Requirements Appropriate CDA/Head Teacher credentials are required . Proven experience as a Head Teacher or in other managerial positions within an educational setting. Strong understanding of childhood development principles and effective teaching methodologies, particularly Montessori approaches. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, and staff. Knowledge of literacy education practices and special education requirements. Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining a positive school environment. Commitment to fostering an inclusive atmosphere that supports diverse learners.
