Job Description:
The High School Teacher/Education Specialist (English or Social Science) position is a ten (10) month, full-time, 37.5 hour per week professional/managerial position with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2025. The Teacher/Education Specialist provides individualized classroom instruction to charter school students using research-based instructional practices. Instruction includes preparation for standardized testing and End of Course Exams. This position provides supervision, academic support, and advising to charter school students throughout the school day and during after-school activities; monitors students’ progress in courses and in meeting the Florida State Standards; and serves as a member of the Charter Academy Assessment and Accountability Team and the Multi-Tiered System of Supports Team, attending all scheduled meetings and implementing strategies as appropriate. This position reports to the Principal, Charter Academy.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the subject taught. Florida secondary teaching certification in the subject area (English 6-12 or Social Science 6-12) or qualifications to acquire this certification before the start of classes; excellent communication and organizational skills; and familiarity with current instructional technology strategies. Successful results of a criminal background check.
Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Familiarity with Florida’s state standards and state testing format and criteria; experience in using student assessment data to make curriculum decisions; a gifted endorsement; and minimum two years of full-time teaching experience at the high school or college level.
SALARY:
$55,000 (Depending on the qualifications, the salary is negotiable.)
