Academic Liaison Galen Hope Coral Gables, FL 33134 Job Overview Galen Hope is a behavioral health treatment facility dedicated to helping adolescents and young adults heal, grow, and thrive. We provide individualized therapeutic services in a structured and supportive environment. Education is a vital part of our clients’ recovery journey, and we are seeking a compassionate, organized, and certified educator to serve as an Academic Liaison The Licensed Teacher – Academic Liaison serves as the primary academic support contact for individual clients, ensuring continuity in educational goals during treatment. This role collaborates with external schools, educational consultants, parents/guardians, and internal treatment teams to monitor and facilitate academic progress. Responsibilities Coordinate and oversee clients’ academic plans during treatment. Communicate regularly with schools, teachers, and educational institutions regarding assignments, accommodations, and academic records. Provide one-on-one academic support and tutoring tailored to each client’s educational level and needs. Develop and maintain individualized education plans (IEPs), 504 Plans, or school reintegration strategies when applicable. Monitor academic progress and maintain documentation in accordance with clinical and educational guidelines. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to advocate for the client’s academic needs and integrate educational goals with therapeutic objectives. Support clients in developing time management, executive functioning, and study skills. Serve as the primary point of contact for families regarding academic updates. Experience A background in higher education teaching is preferred, with a strong understanding of the academic environment. Experience working directly with students in an educational setting is essential. Familiarity with education administration processes and policies is highly desirable. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of individuals. A commitment to educating and empowering students through supportive initiatives and resources.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field (Master’s preferred). Current teaching license or certification required (state-specific). Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience; experience with at-risk or special needs youth preferred. Strong understanding of IEPs, 504 Plans, and academic accommodations. Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills. Compassionate, patient, and adaptable to working in a therapeutic environment.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in residential or behavioral health settings. Knowledge of trauma-informed educational practices. Familiarity with online learning platforms and hybrid models of education.
