Special Education Academic/Behavior Coach–Tikvah Center Gordon School 2625 SW 3rd Avenue, Miami, FL 33129 The Gordon School, located in the beautiful Roads neighborhood of Miami, FL, is a warm, inclusive Jewish Community Day School and a proud part of the Center for Jewish Life at Beth David. Our school is made up of three divisions: The Day School (K-6th Grade), the Early Childhood Center (3 months-Pre-K), and the Tikvah Center (Special Needs Pre-K-5th Grade). The Tikvah Center is dedicated to empowering children on the autism spectrum through personalized learning in a vibrant, child-centered environment. Our holistic approach nurtures academic, social-emotional, ethical, and spiritual development, helping each student thrive in inclusive settings. We’re seeking a Special Education Lead Teacher to join our team and make a lasting impact. In this role, you’ll guide students in a supportive, engaging classroom environment, oversee instruction, create dynamic lesson plans, lead activities, and maintain strong family communication. We also offer ongoing training to support your professional growth. Duties and Responsibilities included but not limited to: Support students with learning, behavioral, and social needs Collaborate with teachers to maintain consistent teaching methods Facilitate social interactions between Tikvah and Day School students Develop academic and behavior management plans Communicate with parents and administration about student progress Monitor students during school activities and events Assist in organizing school events
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
General knowledge of special education practices, methods, and techniques for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD); ability to collaborate with various educational professionals to address the individual learning, social, and behavioral needs of students with ASD; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other teachers, parents, students, and administrators
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field Experience with students with ASD required Knowledge of special education methods and strategies for students with ASD Knowledge of ABA methods
Physical Requirements:
Active movement, including walking, bending, and handling tasks
Schedule:
This is a full-time position with the primary working hours from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Thursday, and 7:30 am to 3:15 pm on Friday, following the school calendar year. Flexibility is essential, as there may be occasions requiring early arrivals, late stays, or weekend work for special events.
