The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing assistance and guidance to individuals facing various challenges related to mental health and addiction. This position requires a strong understanding of behavioral health principles, crisis management, and the ability to foster supportive relationships with clients. Responsibilities Offer one-on-one peer support to individuals experiencing mental health or substance use challenges. Facilitate group discussions to encourage shared experiences and coping strategies. Provide resources and referrals to community programs, treatment options, and support networks. Assist individuals in setting personal goals and navigating challenges in recovery. Advocate for clients in healthcare and social service settings. Maintain confidential and accurate records of interactions while upholding ethical and professional standards. Collaborate with mental health professionals, case managers, and other team members to ensure comprehensive support. Any other duties as designated by the supervisor. Skills and Qualifications A background in social work, psychology, or a related field is preferred. Lived experience with mental health recovery and/or substance use disorder Strong skills in crisis management and intervention techniques. Familiarity with motivational interviewing methods. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work effectively within a team as well as independently. A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards in all client interactions. Previous mentoring experience is a plus.
