Custom Job Purpose:

This position exists to perform responsible and specialized work in the supervision of Child Care Services. Essential Functions of this Job Assist in developing, coordinating and implementing the programs and activities in accordance with district, state, and federal guidelines. Assist in records and recordkeeping for the Pre-Kindergarten Program. Assists in applying for and monitoring the status of state and federal grants relating to child care services. Assists in community surveys for program update and monitoring. Assists in planning training activities and programs. Assists in maintaining records and reports of programs, and community activities. Maintains liaison with principals and business and industry and private and public child care directors. Non-Essential Functions of this Job Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Must exemplify patience, compassion, and fairness in working with children and their caretakers. Excellent communications skills. Well organized, able to work objectively and positively in a variety of settings. Demonstrated ability to relate well with people of varied socio-economic and educational backgrounds. Able to provide own transportation with reimbursement according to School Board Policy. Ability to maintain and prepare records and reports, and proofread and analyze technical documents. Bilingual/biliterate preferred. Education, Experience and/or Certification/License Requirements High school diploma required. Background in child development and/or early childhood education and parent education preferred. Experience working with community agency or service groups, especially with economically disadvantaged. Previous Head Start experience is desirable. Willing to work flexible hours. Experience and/or training working with budgets, grants and/or accounting.

Work Context:

Requires some sitting and standing, walking and moving about to coordinate work. Requires the use of alternative communication systems, such as electronic mail, telephones and computers. Requires coordination of work tasks to establish priorities, set goals and meet deadlines. Requires face-to-face discussions and contact with students, individuals and/or teams. Requires work with students, internal and external contacts, and with the public.

Physical Environment:

Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. Requires sitting for the majority of the day, and the ability to lift, carry, move and/or position objects infrequently weighing up to 20 pounds. Requires travel to schools and worksites within the district.
