Description This position is responsible for assessment, planning, training and other related activities associated with the integration and management of technology into the instructional program. This includes analysis of curriculum and instructional methodologies, and the evaluation and application of hardware and software for instructional purposes. Requires development of information and plans that will influence decisions and directions in regard to technology implementation. Requires faculty training as well as interaction on a one-to-one basis with a variety of groups. Utilizes the Polk County School Board technology management system to track and manage school-based, state evaluation and accountability data.
Examples of Duties Essential Functions/Duties:
Work with individual faculty members and with discipline-specific groups on specific strategies to infuse technology into curriculum and instruction.
Support the high school administration and faculty in all technology-related tasks
Support the High School Learning Management System as a system administrator and train faculty in its appropriate use.
Teach workshops to faculty leading to certification as distance education instructors and support their efforts after training.
Keep abreast with latest developments in technology, especially as applied to curriculum and instruction and state testing, disseminate such information to the high school principal and others as appropriate.
Advocate the use of technology to support instruction and serve as the technology liaison between the high school and the Polk County School Board.
Typical Qualifications Required Skills:
Knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of effective instruction. Knowledge of techniques and principles involved in utilizing technology in instruction. Knowledge of technologies applied to the learning environment.
Ability to make decisions within defined parameters of policy and professional standards.
Ability to work cooperatively with college personnel.
Excellent technical written and oral communications skills.
Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication.
Demonstrated commitment to community involvement.
Ability to critically analyze and troubleshoot technical issues.
Knowledge of the Florida education system preferred.
Ability to make decisions within defined parameters of policy and professional standards.
Ability to use computers and related software and peripherals, including multimedia, at a high level of competence.
Required Education:
Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree is required.
Preferred Education:
Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university with a Master’s degree in instructional design, instructional technology, information systems, information technology or a closely related area is preferred.
Required Experience:
