Program Teacher for Adults with Developmental Disabilities – Part-time Suncoast Stars Community, Inc. 4141 Desoto Road, Sarasota, FL 34235 Suncoast STARS Community, Inc. (SSC) is a dynamic faith-based nonprofit dedicated to fostering a fun and thriving environment where adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities enjoy meaningful and satisfying lives. We engage our STARS• in a variety of enrichment classes, including nutrition & fitness, Bible study, sign language, life skills, culture and cooking and more. In addition, we are developing our own special enterprise (a greeting card studio) to give our STARS the opportunity to create high quality, marketable products. As a small but growing organization, we are eager to expand learning opportunities for our STARS . We are seeking program teachers with a passion and the skill to empower adults with special needs through a variety of learning experiences. A good sense of humor, flexibility and the ability to multi-task are a must in our dynamic environment. Group Instruction:

Develop and implement daily lesson plans that support cognitive, social, vocational, and life skills. Adapt curriculum to meet a range of abilities and individual learning styles. Facilitate group activities such as art, music, fitness, and community outings. •

Classroom Management:

Foster a positive, respectful, and encouraging environment where the STARS feel supported in their learning experience. •

Collaborative Effort:

Work closely with fellow teachers and volunteers to coordinate curriculum, activities, and individualized supports. Communicate effectively to ensure consistency in instruction, care, and core values across all program areas. • Marketing (optional): Participate in the creation and management of social media platforms using engaging content. Monitor and respond to social media interactions. Design marketing materials for events, newsletters, and fundraisers.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in education or a human services a plus. Experience working with individuals with cognitive and physical limitations. Demonstrates leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with adults with special needs, their parents, volunteers, and other staff. A passion for integrating Christian principles into teaching and encouraging students to see their art as a reflection of their faith. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Graphic arts experience a plus, with working knowledge of social media, Canva, and Mailchimp.

Job Type:

Part-time Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday in person 8:30am – 3:30pm additional hours available for prep time and staff meetings

Compensation:

Commensurate with experience.
