Overview:

Donovan Catholic School is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Learning Support Specialist to join our faculty. This part-time, or, potentially, full-time, position involves teaching middle and high school seminar courses designed to foster executive functioning, strong study habits, high school readiness, and college preparation. The ideal candidate is passionate about helping students succeed by building the foundational skills they need to thrive academically and personally while serving as a positive role model rooted in Catholic values.

Key Responsibilities:

Teach seminar-style courses for middle and high school students that focus on: Executive function development (organization, time management, task initiation, etc.) Study skills and academic strategies Goal setting and personal accountability High school and college readiness Self-advocacy and resilience in learning Collaborate with faculty and academic support staff to identify and assist students who may benefit from additional coaching or personalized support. Provide individualized or small-group academic coaching to students as needed. Track and monitor student progress, providing feedback to students, parents, and teachers. Develop engaging, age-appropriate curriculum and instructional materials. Support a school-wide culture of academic integrity, growth mindset, and student ownership of learning. Model and uphold the values and teachings of the Catholic faith in all interactions with students and the school community. Support the mission of the school as a Christ-centered learning environment.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field (Master’s preferred) Prior teaching or student support experience at the middle and/or high school level Deep understanding of executive function and learning strategies Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students, families, and faculty Experience designing curriculum and delivering engaging, student-centered instruction Flexible, collaborative, and committed to student success Willingness to support and participate in the Catholic mission of the school

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification or training in executive function coaching, academic intervention, or learning differences Familiarity with college counseling and academic planning processes Experience working in an independent, Catholic, or college-preparatory school setting
