Full Job Description Specifically Hiring:
adjunct (TMU) world /US history. Adjunct (TMU) Government. High school World History. JFCA is a college style K-12 private school, with students attending in-person 2 days a week and asynchronously led by teacher-developed lessons 3 days a week. The Classroom Teacher is committed to fulfilling JFCA’s mission to prepare students for life academically, spiritually, and relationally in a vibrant community atmosphere. The Classroom Teacher is expected to be a Christian role model in word and deed. Furthermore, they must lead with a love for Christ, a desire for every student to discover God’s purposes in their lives, and a passion to prepare students for life. The Classroom Teacher’s role includes all aspects of planning, organizing, and implementing JFCA’s instructional program in accordance with its academic policies and inclusive of all classroom and satellite work.
Primary Responsibilities:
Academically:
Implements instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful, relevant learning experiences. Learning goals should include the development of critical thinking skills and the authentic transfer of learning. This includes the classroom, satellite, or digital learning environment. Maintains effective, efficient, and timely student record keeping electronically using Canvas. Provides timely, useful feedback to students on a regular basis for the purpose of student academic and personal growth. Ensures that student growth and achievement is continuous and appropriate for age group, subject area, and/or program classification.
Spiritually:
Approaches subject matter and character development from a biblical worldview whenever possible; encourages students to approach subject matter from a biblical worldview whenever possible. Demonstrates care for students’ spiritual condition. Prioritizes the spiritual development of students. Models professional and Christian ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community. Models spiritual maturity in leading students towards Christ and providing discipleship.
Relationally:
Incorporates intentional student discipleship through relationships and mentoring. Provides a positive environment in which students are encouraged to communicate effectively and collaborate with peers. Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, with students and parents on a regular basis for the purpose of building and maintaining positive, open relationships. Responds to student and parent questions/concerns in a timely manner (typically within 24 weekday hours); maintains availability before and after school for student or parent conferences as needed. Communicates class assignments and expectations effectively in class and through Canvas.
Administratively:
Maintains familiarity with the JFCA Teacher Handbook. Works independently with little direct supervision (from PLC and administration), while recognizing the need to work within the larger system. Attends and participates in JFCA teacher meetings and PLC meetings. Meets professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, and coordinating and collaborating with others. Produces evidence of meeting accreditation standards as requested, including the maintenance of ACSI certification. Maintains a spirit of continuous improvement and is open to feedback and coaching from administration. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Technical Competencies and Skills:
Knowledgeable about the subject, enthusiastic about teaching, and can present the material in a way that promotes conceptual understanding through active learning. Knowledgeable and capable of teaching synchronously and asynchronously to provide continuity of learning across campus and digital learning environments. Demonstrates strong work ethic, executes time management skills, accepts responsibility, and is self-motivated. Utilizes all required and recommended JFCA computer applications- Canvas, FACTS, Google Drive. Degree/Work Experience Requirements Minimum BA or BS; Masters Degree preferred. Additional specific requirements will be provided and depend on the position. Previous classroom teaching experience is preferred and may be required. Eligible for an Association for Christian Schools International (ACSI) teacher certificate. JFCA has a partnership with Truett McConnell University providing class instruction at the college level. JFCA employs the teachers, but they must meet TMU requirements. Spiritual Requirements Evidence of Faith through application, interview, and job performance. Holds tightly to a similar set of beliefs as outlined in the JFBC Statement of Faith. Regular church attendee. Other Requirements Safe Harbor Application & Child Protection Policy that includes a background check on each applicant. Personal laptop (preferred) or tablet. Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and arms to reach and carry classroom items. Physically able to maneuver throughout campus and in the classroom All work responsibilities are subject to having performance goals and/or targets established as part of the annual performance planning process or as the result of organizational planning.
