The Instructional Coach at Centennial works with special education teachers and students with disabilities to improve the quality of teaching and student learning in any of the core content areas (Reading, Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies) with a focus on Special Education Instruction. The Instructional Coach for Centennial Academy is a self-starter who has experience teaching in a diverse school setting. The Instructional Coach exhibits superior organizational and communication skills; is compassionate; can provide effective collaborative and shared leadership; and is flexible and team-oriented with a collaborative approach to working with colleagues, administrators, and parents. This individual provides professional development and guidance for teachers to improve their content knowledge and effective delivery of instructional strategies. Overall, the job of the coach is to build the capacity of the school and its teachers to meet the learning needs of all scholars. The instructional coach’s goal is to ensure that school staff acquires the understanding and skills to: Enhance instructional practices at the classroom level Raise the level of scholar academic achievement

Essential Duties:

Duties of the Centennial Academy’s Specifically Designed Instructional Coach include, but are not limited to, the following: Assists teachers and grade-level teams with the implementation of the Georgia Standards of Excellence Ensures fidelity of implementation of the site-based Comprehensive School Reform model via monitoring and observation. Conducts informal classroom observations, provides feedback to teachers, and assists with the development of new teachers. Facilitates professional learning communities and assists teachers with collaborative lesson planning. • Monitors students’ progress and arranges for academic interventions based on formative and summative assessments. Conducts analysis of formative and summative student data and recommends modifications to instruction. Uses observation and achievement data to identify professional development needs and designs and delivers site-based professional learning. Assists with reviewing classroom lesson plans and provides lesson plan feedback to teachers. Models for and supports special education instructional staff in organizing, identifying, and implementing standards-based and adapted curriculum Plans and delivers professional learning activities to staff, parents, and others to increase achievement for students with disabilities Participates in professional learning activities to increase achievement for students with disabilities or to improve skills related to compliance and IEP case management Collaborates with parents and local school staff regarding instructional decision-making for students with disabilities Routinely analyzes student data to assist staff in utilizing effective teaching strategies and methodologies for students with disabilities Analyzes student test data and advises teachers and appropriate staff on trends, outcomes, needs, and effective practices Provides Coaching and Follow-up to support district initiatives, including but not limited to effective literacy and math instruction, personalized learning, and individualized instruction for students with disabilities Assists teachers in improving classroom management and climate through the implementation of effective instructional methods and behavioral supports Provides IEP service data/forecasting to support the creation and implementation of the building of an effective master schedule Recommends changes to current practices, approaches, methods, strategies, and assessments as needed Demonstrates, monitors, and evaluates the application of effective teaching strategies Recommends best practices to achieve the desired student learning outcomes Serves as the liaison for professional learning between SDI Cohort Metro Resa and the school Coordinates site-based professional learning activities as needed Conducts professional development at the school as needed Participates in periodic professional learning activities with Metro Resa Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator Additional Responsibilities Informs faculty of professional development opportunities Participates in periodic professional learning activities Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator Other duties as assigned.
