Job:

The Teacher is responsible for planning and administering the education program according to the mission statement and guidelines provided by GBCHFM. The Teacher should be committed to Sanctuary practice utilizing tools that reinforce our shared language to create a trauma-responsive culture.

Qualifications:

At least 21 years old. Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Education) from an accredited school. Prefer minimum of one year of educational experience teaching behavior/special education children. Hold a current Georgia teaching certificate or be in process of becoming certified. Should be able to follow oral and written instructions. Adequate training or experience required to perform tasks assigned. Display the motivation and desire to learn and develop advanced skills. Computer skills with the ability to learn new instructional computer programs.

Primary Responsibilities:

Deliver classroom instruction in subjects and to the ages assigned. Conduct an educational interview/assessment with each new admission, report results to educational and clinical staff and enroll each student in appropriate courses. Cooperate and complete documentation required for school system and state DOE. Update service plan as needed with educational goals, strengths and challenges. Maintain school library. Assess curriculum annually. Utilize appropriate agency approved behavior management techniques in the classroom. Utilize personal safety plan for managing emotions and interactions with staff and clients. Request materials and supplies as needed. Coordinate academic field trips as assigned. Coordinate relevant training pertinent to improving the delivery of classroom instruction and management. Coordinate referral of identified clients to specialized services, i.e. speech therapy, learning centers, tutoring. Assist in the preparation and sustaining of accreditation as assigned. Assist in scoring of tests and other assignments as assigned. Represent agency favorably at all times. Other duties as assigned.
