Position Description:
The Behavior Support Team Coordinator helps students with challenging behaviors by working with school administrators, teachers, and school staff to implement evidence-based strategies, develop behavior plans, and provide training, while also collecting and analyzing data to inform interventions.
Reports To:
The Executive Director of Health & Related Services Scope of Responsibility:
? Facilitate the district Behavior Support Team meetings ? Review and analyze referred student data, discuss solutions, and develop plans of action. ? Conduct school/classroom walk-throughs and student observations as needed. ? Work with school staff to identify and implement evidence-based behavior management practices. ? Train and coach staff on classroom management and behavior strategies. ? Assist in developing and implementing classroom and individual behavior intervention plans. ? Support school teams in collecting and analyzing behavioral data. ? Engage in on-going professional development to increase knowledge of positive student behavior. ? Review, interpret, and engage in data-based decision making. ? Monitor student progress and the effectiveness of interventions. ? Maintain communication with school staff and other stakeholders regarding student progress. ? Complete required paperwork in an accurate and timely manner. ? Maintain confidentiality of electronic and print records and student information. ? Attend school faculty, staff, and department meetings as needed. ? Attend
IEP/IAP/MDR
meetings. ? Attend Central Office, Student Support, and Health & Related Services Department meetings. ? Attend back-to-school, open-house, and other school events. ? Attend PIP, Evaluation, Observation, IAP, and student discipline meetings/hearings as needed. ? Attend school board/committee meetings, upon request. ? Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Health & Related Services.
Minimum Required Skills and Qualifications:
? Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, social work, psychology, sociology, behavior analysis, or a related field from an accredited university/college. ? Appropriate certification as described in Bulletin 746 of the Louisiana Department of Education. ? At least three years of experience working with children and adolescents in behavioral, alternative or at-risk settings. ? Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills. ? Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data. ? Experience in developing and implementing behavior intervention plans. ? Knowledge of evidence-based strategies for classroom management and behavior support. ? Ability to work collaboratively on multidisciplinary teams. ? Strong written and oral communication skills. ? High degree of professionalism, with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities. ? Working knowledge of SER, IEPs, IAPs and federal and state laws, policies and regulations relevant to schools and special education. ? Proficient in Google Suite.
Desirable Qualifications:
? Master’s degree or higher in Social Work, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Special Education, or Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) desired but not required. ? Five or more years working with students with significant behavioral, emotional and social concerns in schools. ?
Bilingual Physical Involvement:
? Sitting is a required part of each work day. ? Must be able to operate office equipment. ? Standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting up to 10 pounds is sometimes required. ? Must have personal, reliable transportation to schools, work locations and meeting. Mobility skills necessary to access a variety of work locations.
