Category Schools – Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract An opportunity is available for a dedicated educator to work with a sixth-grade student who is Deaf or Hard of Hearing. This onsite position for the 2025-2026 school year requires a focused and passionate approach to support the unique learning needs of the student in a middle school setting.
Qualifications:
Louisiana State teaching license in Deaf Education Experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, preferably at the middle school level Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) Knowledge of deaf culture and specialized teaching strategies Proficiency in sign language (ASL) and/or other communication methods

Bastrop, LA Responsibilities:
Provide tailored educational instruction to meet the individual needs of the student Collaborate with other educators, staff, and the student’s family to create a supportive learning environment Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs, ensuring that progress is documented and communicated Utilize appropriate teaching methods and resources to facilitate effective learning Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development opportunities as available
