Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Seeking a Special Education Teacher to support elementary students in grades 1 through 3 in New Orleans, LA. This is a contract position for the school year, tailored to cover a maternity leave of three months or longer. The role involves working closely with a manageable caseload of 12 to 13 students, providing specialized instruction and support to meet individual educational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized instruction and support plans for students with special education needs in grades 1-3. Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and families to create inclusive learning environments. Develop and implement IEPs (Individualized Education Programs) in compliance with state and federal regulations. Monitor and document student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly. Foster social, emotional, and academic growth in a nurturing, supportive classroom setting.
Desired Qualifications:
Valid Special Education teaching certification. Experience working with elementary students requiring special education services. Strong knowledge of special education laws, IEP development, and differentiated instruction. Ability to manage a caseload of 12-13 students effectively. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
